Federal Resources is pleased to announce the release of our new Gas and Vapor Detection kit. Awarded under the CEDAP program (contract number W9124Q-08-D-0814), this kit allows a first responder to quickly and accurately classify and identify an unknown substance. The kit consists of parts from many different vendors;such as MSA, Proengin, and AristaTek.
Each component provides its own independent detection capabilities and can be operated separately from the rest of the kit.
The kit consists of parts from many different vendors;such as MSA, Proengin, and AristaTek. Each component provides its own independent detection capabilities and can be operated separately from the rest of the kit. The Proengin AP4C is capable of detecting many different substances such as Fe, Ca, Na, K but is restricted to displaying the following P, S, As, HN and CH on the detector (HN and CH being digital compilations of spectrum/unique signature). These channels allow us to see a large range of both CW agents and Industrial compounds whilst minimizing interference from non hazardous chemicals. The Multi-CWA tube sampler can accommodate up to four chemical warfare agent detector tubes simultaneously for easy and quick sampling needed by first responders. A hand-held sample pump has been added for Toxic Industrial Chemical detection based on the NIOSH CBRN and International Task Force(ITF-25) list. MSA Sirius can detect a number of different gases depending on the types of sensors selected, including combustibles (choice of LEL or CH4 display), Oxygen, Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Monoxide, and a 10.6eV PID lamp.
Multiple detection technologies are used to classify an unknown substance. Based on a confirmatory identification a decision matrix is used. The PEAC (Palmtop Emergency Action for Chemicals) system by AristaTek is also used in conjunction with the above detectors to provide information on hazardous chemicals such as chemical and physical properties, recommended respirators, recommended chemical protective clothing, DOT emergency response guidelines, plume models, explosion calculators, etc. Federal Resources has provided these pieces of equipment which individually have very valid functions and uses within the responder community. The detection “pieces” are used collectively to provide the information needed by first responders. The individual equipment or variations of can be found at most responder locations but generally only the largest responder groups may have all the individual items. Because of this, many responders will be familiar with most if not all of the individual detectors.
The individual items have other uses outside of the realms of this kit, adding value to the package as multiuse equipment.
